Tracks On Time (“we”) shows live NJ TRANSIT rail information. We built it to collect as little as possible.

No ads, no accounts

Tracks On Time doesn't show advertising and doesn't use advertising cookies. You never need to sign up or log in.

Your location

When you tap “Near me” or “Locate me”, your browser asks for permission and shares your approximate position with the page. It's used only on your device to find the closest stations or show you on the map. It's never sent to our servers or stored.

Saved stations, commute and recent searches

Stations you save, your commute and recent searches are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. We can't see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Notifications

If you ask to be alerted when a track is posted, your browser may ask to show notifications. The alert is triggered by the page you have open. We don't store any notification subscription.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. It collects pseudonymous usage data such as pages viewed, device type and approximate region, and uses cookies to do so. We don't use it to identify you. See how Google uses this data. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser's tracking protection.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested page, time) to keep the service secure and running.

Data sources

Train times, tracks, delays and alerts come from NJ TRANSIT's public data. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap and © OpenStreetMap contributors. Tracks On Time is independent and not affiliated with NJ TRANSIT.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
